You open a scene or character card someone shared and it’s wrong: items are missing, the character loads looking generic, or you get a straight-up failed to load. Studio loads whatever it can and quietly drops whatever it can’t, so a “broken” load is usually a content gap, not a corrupt file.
Missing items in an otherwise-fine scene
The scene used studio items, maps or clothing mods you don’t have, so they were skipped.
- Check BepInEx/LogOutput.log (see enable logging) for the missing GUIDs, or read the on-screen missing-item list your modpack shows on load.
- Install those mods (installing a mod) and reopen the scene.
A character loads looking default or generic
If a loaded character is missing their hair, face detail or outfit and comes in looking plain, the card depends on mods you don’t have. The parts it couldn’t find fall back to defaults. Install the missing mods and reload the card.
The scene or card won’t load at all
A total “failed to load” is different from missing pieces. Check these:
- Wrong game. A card made for Koikatsu (KK) or AI-Shoujo won’t load in Honey Select 2. Make sure the card is actually an HS2 card.
- A required plugin is missing. Some scenes carry data for a plugin (for example a pose-editor or an effect plugin). If you don’t have that plugin, the scene can fail partway. Install the plugin the scene needs and try again.
- A newer format. A card or scene saved on a much newer modpack than yours can fail to parse. Update your install.
- A genuinely corrupt file. If a card fails everywhere and its file size looks wrong (tiny, or not a proper image), it’s damaged. Re-download it.
Loading someone else's content is the fastest way to discover gaps in your modpack. When in doubt, the
log tells you exactly what was missing, no guessing required.
